NCE Partial Upgrades

With this release, you can partially upgrade your NCE subscriptions to a different product edition.

For example, if you are on a Microsoft 365 E3 subscription with 10 seats and would like to upgrade to a Microsoft 365 E5 subscription with 3 seats, you can now use the partial upgrade feature to do so. Update the number of seats you want to upgrade to a higher product edition on the Partial Upgrade tab during checkout. In this instance, after a partial upgrade, you’ll be upgraded to an E5 subscription with 3 seats and the original E3 subscription is adjusted to 7 seats. Both subscriptions are set to the same term end date as the original E3 subscription.

📝 Note: Partial upgrades are only possible for NCE subscriptions.

To partially upgrade a subset of seats in your NCE subscription to a different product edition:

  1. Go to Manage > Account > Applications. The Manage Apps page opens.
  2. Click the Partial Upgrade tab for the NCE subscription you want to upgrade.
  3. Select the product edition you want to upgrade to. Only the products you are eligible to upgrade to are displayed.
  4. In the Select period field, specify contract duration.
  5. Enter the number of seats you want to upgrade.
  6. Click Submit to confirm the billing details, and then click Place Order to place the order for upgrading subscriptions.

Billing Frequency Change

During a partial upgrade, It is possible to change the billing frequency of the partially upgraded seats. For example, you can change the billing frequency from (P1M) Annual Term, billed monthly, to (P1Y) Annual Term, billed yearly. To make this change, select Yearly: 1 year contract in the Select Period field. The specified number of seats are upgraded to a P1Y term.
